The Windsor High School wrestling program has seen its share of great performances at the North Coast Section Championships over the past 15 years, but few better than their collective effort this season.

The NCS meet, held on Feb. 15-16 at James Logan High School in Union City, consisted of preliminary rounds on Friday, with the championship matches contested on Saturday.
The goal for most participating athletes was a top-three finish in their weight class, good for advancement to the elite CIF State Wrestling Championships to be held at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield on Feb. 22-23.
The Jaguars were represented by a combined total of 23 wrestlers for the boys and girls teams at this year’s NCS meet, the most ever for the program.
Leading the charge for Windsor were 115-pound senior Blake Fredrickson and 147-pound junior Trent Silva, both going undefeated in their weight class to capture their second NCS titles and advance to state for the second straight year.
Also earning medals for the Jags were 134-pound senior Brennan Brown (4th place), 140-pound Justin Campbell (6th place), 108-pound freshman Isaiah Rubio (7th place) and 197-pound junior Alex Cruz (8th place). Other NCS participants included 128-pound Brandon Fong, 160-Jacob Campos, 172-pound Israel Higareda, 184-pound Jarred Buchanan and 222-pound Marco Ramirez. The Jaguars finished in sixth place as a team, the seventh straight year they’ve been in the top six.
Ladies shine at NCS

The Lady Jaguars enjoyed their best showing ever, led by 106-pound freshman Carmen Perez, who advanced to the finals before settling for second place. Also stamping her ticket to the state meet was 116-pound Dulce Chavez, who earned a third-place medal. Other Windsor medalists were 113-pound Ivory Osborn (6th place), 160-pound freshman Savannah Burger (7th place). Other NCS participants for the Lady Jags were Alondra Vasquez, Bianca Correa, Maxine De Mars, Annette De La Pena, Nina Lynch, Leslie Hinojosa, Elizabeth Acken and Rebekah Westmoreland. Windsor finished in ninth place as a team, their best showing ever.
Future looks bright
Among the many notable NCS performances were the medal-winning efforts of rising stars Carmen Perez, Savannah Burger and Isaiah Rubio, who joined an elite list of WHS freshmen to medal in their first NCS meet.
