Sophomore Ivory Osborn stamps ticket to state meet

The Lady Jaguars have accomplished great things on the high school wrestling mat this winter, and that success was validated with an outstanding showing at the North Coast Section Championships in Albany on Feb. 9-10.
Windsor sent five wrestlers to the high level meet, with two coming away with top-four medals.
The goal for most athletes entering the competition was a top-three finish, good for advancement to the prestigious CIF State Girls Championships on Feb. 23-24 at the Visalia Convention Center.
Leading the charge for the Lady Jaguars were 116-pound Ivory Osborn and 101-pound Molly Cox, who finished third and fourth respectively to earn medals.
Osborn entered the tournament seeded fifth and won both of her early matches to move on to the second day of competition. She then defeated the #4 ranked wrestler before losing her first match.
Osborn recorded a pin to a advance to the third-place match and promptly pinned her opponent two minutes into the contest to punch her ticket to state. Osborn is just the second female Windsor athlete to qualify for the state meet.
Cox was nearly as good, battling back from a first-round loss to win her next five bouts to advance to the third place match, but her bid for state ended with a fourth-place medal.
Also competing at the NCS meet were 106-pound Dulce Chavez (2-2), 131-pound Bianca Correa (1-2) and 189-pounder Danny Garcia (1-2).
