William Day Sanregret passed away peacefully in his sleep at his
home on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at age 48. Bill embraced life with great
passion and was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He was
born and raised in Los Altos, California. Bill graduated from Utah
Technical College in 1980 and from California State University,
Chico, where he met his wife, Julie Van Wyk, in 1984. He began his
career in lumber sales at Lumberjack’s in Auburn. He then worked at
Central Valley Builders in Napa, Yaeger & Kirk in Sonoma, Nu
Forest Products in Healdsburg, and for the past twelve years for
Capital Lumber Co. in Healdsburg.
Bill was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed attending Giants
and 49er games throughout his lifetime. He was a supporter of Maria
Carrillo High School, where his daughter June plays for the
volleyball team. Bill was also active in the Rincon Valley Little
League and Youth Football with his son Henry.
Bill’s other passions were fishing and golf, and spending time
at the ocean in Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, and Santa Barbara. A
champion BBQer, Bill was famous for entertaining family and friends
with memorable tailgate parties, and kept everyone laughing with
his unique perspective on life. He loved working in his yard and
relaxing at home with his wife and children, along with his
well-loved pug, Cleo.
Bill will be forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew
him. He leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Julie; daughter June
Cecile, 16; son Henry William, 13; parents S. George and Maryann
Sanregret of Grass Valley; brothers Sam (and Judy) Sanregret of
Santa Barbara and Matthew (and Yolanda) Sanregret of Walnut Creek
and was preceded in death by his older brother Ted; many aunts and
uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Bill’s life took place at the Lafferty Smith
Colonial Chapel in Santa Rosa on Sunday, Nov. 4. Friends and family
attended the Memorial Service at 12 p.m. Donations can be made to a
trust for his children, June and Henry.
