Windsor High School varsity soccer teams will open North Bay League Oak Division play this week with a full slate of matches, hopeful that a challenging preseason will have them ready for what lies ahead.
The Windsor boys (4-3-2) will kick off NBL action on Jan. 9 against visiting Santa Rosa, followed by a Friday, Jan. 11 home date with unbeaten Montgomery. Both varsity games start at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile the Lady Jaguars (2-5) will open NBL play on Jan. 8 (after press time) at Ukiah before returning home to host powerful Maria Carrillo on Saturday, Jan. 12 in a 6 p.m. varsity start.
Boys fall to Campolindo
The Jaguars returned from a two-week holiday break in a Jan. 5 visit to Campolindo, overcoming a poor start with a strong second half in an eventual 3-1 loss to the Cougars.
“We made some huge mistakes early in the game and found ourselves down 2-0,” Jags’ coach Gerardo Perez said. “We made some adjustments and took control of the game but couldn’t score until 15 minutes were left in regulation.”
Marius Bossard scored his sixth goal of the season, matching his entire total for last year.
