Lady Jags extend overall record to 6-3-1
The Lady Jaguars recorded their first win of the North Bay League season on Sept. 20, easily defeating visiting Santa Rosa, 5-0 in a varsity soccer clash at Wilson Ranch Park.
The convincing victory came on the heels of two straight losses to open the league schedule, and was just what the doctor ordered to get the team back on track.
“We controlled the tempo of the game from the start,” Jags coach Mark Archambault reported. “We possessed the ball well, moving it in, out, back and forward. The defense was outstanding in shutting down the Santa Rosa attack and limiting them to four shots on goal.”
The Jaguars (6-3-1, 1-2) will be back on the NBL pitch on Sept. 27 (after press time) against visiting Casa Grande, followed by a Thursday, Sept. 29 trip to Cardinal Newman (6 p.m.).
Windsor will travel to play powerhouse Montgomery on Saturday, Oct. 1 in a 1 p.m. tilt.
“We have three tough games this week,” Archambault said. “If we can control the tempo of the game as we did against Santa Rosa, we will be in every game.”
Jags blank Panthers
Windsor got out of the blocks fast in their Sept. 20 date with visiting Santa Rosa, scorching the Panther net with four unanswered goals in the first half.
The Jags kept their foot on the gas in the final 40 minutes of play, adding one insurance tally en route to a 5-0 win. Windsor had a total of 16 shots on goal.
Finding the net for Windsor were goal scorers Katie Bianchi, Madi Baer, Gillian Day, Madison Monroe and McKenzie Hernandez. Assists went to Baer (2), Bianchi, Maddie Call and Taylor Brogden.
