Boys notch wins, girls fall in hotly contested matches

The North Bay League soccer season is at the halfway mark this week, as both Windsor High School varsity teams continue to battle with hopes of landing a post-season playoff berth.
The varsity boys (4-7-2, 2-5-1) picked up a couple of much needed victories with recent wins over Ukiah (4-0) and Cardinal Newman (3-2).

Credit freshman goalie Manuel Amadore with the shutout for Windsor. Goal scorers in Friday’s contest with Newman were Raymundo Duenas and Olin Piotter.
“It was nice to see the kids starting to gel this week and play up to their potential,” Jags assistant coach John Richards said. “We still have a young squad with some rough patches, but it was an encouraging set of games overall, especially as we look to the rest of the season and the future of our program.”
The Jags will resume play with upcoming home and away matches against Casa Grande (Jan. 24, 7 p.m.) and Rancho Cotate (Jan. 26, 6 p.m.).
Ladies fall to league foes
The Lady Jaguars (5-7-2, 2-6) are in the midst of a rough patch in league, extending their losing streak to four games with recent losses to Ukiah (1-0) and Cardinal Newman (3-2, 2 OT).
Despite the setbacks, the loss to Cardinal Newman was particularly encouraging for the Jaguars.

The Jags will be back in action at Casa Grande on Jan. 24 (6 p.m.) followed by a Friday, Jan. 26 home clash with Rancho Cotate (7 p.m.).
