Analy senior sprint star Tracy Webster enjoyed a tremendous day
at the Meet of Champions on Saturday, qualifying for the
prestigious State Track and Field Championships with a third-place
finish in the girls 100-meter finals.
Webster, a four-time SCL champion in the event, clocked a fast
12.37 in the race to earn her first trip to this weekend¹s State
meet, scheduled for June 2 and 3 at Cerritos College in
Norwalk.
³When I finished the race I wasn¹t¹ sure where I placed, but
someone held up three fingers and I knew I was third,² said
Webster, who also captured 18th-place overall in the 100-meter
hurdles in 16.49. ³It¹s an awesome feeling and a dream come
true.²
Webster was one of two-dozen West County athletes at the meet,
who qualified by virtue of a top-seven finish at the North Coast
Section Championships on May 20.
Other top efforts were turned in on Saturday by El Mo¹s Brittny
Escamilla (6th-place 3200-meters, 11:21.68, 15th-place,
1600-meters, 5:26.28), Jeremiah Mahan (19th-place, 400-meters,
53.66), Joe Durling (14th-place discus, 132¹ 7²) and Nate Skalicky
(17th- place, discus, 129¹ 4²).
Analy results included: Emily Schuster (15th-place, 400-meters,
61.43), Olivia Foster (19th-place, 63.04), Joe Bell (12th-place,
long jump, 19¹ 9²) and Kate Ferland (27th-place, triple jump, 32¹
.25²).
The girls 4×400 relay team of Olivia Weber, Schuster, Heather
Johnson and Foster finished in 21st-place, while the boy¹s 4×100
relay team of A.J. Fox, Brendan Lee, Kyle Molkenbuhr and Mark Ryan
took 12th overall in 44.40, while the girls 4×100 relay team of
Jeana Cadby, Schuster, Webster and Emily Amos was disqualified.
