Walter John Eager joined our Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 13, 2008.
He was surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted and
loving husband of 37 years to Maryrose Eager of Cazadero, father to
the luckiest children on earth, John Eager of Santa Rosa, Mark
Eager and his wife Tina of Novato, Catherine Eager of Windsor and
Matthew Eager of Santa Rosa. He was the doting grandfather to Aaron
Eager of Novato, Michael and Audrey Anthony of Windsor, and
Courtney Gray of Temecula, CA. He was the great grandfather to
Clayton and Cheyenne Gray also of Temecula CA.
He was born in San Francisco, attended Lowell High School and
proudly served his country as an ensign in the navy during World
War II on the USS Appalachian. He received his BA from USF in 1951,
graduating Magna Cum Laude in his class. He worked for Royal Blue
and Marsh McClennan where he was promoted to vice president.
He was a quiet, unassuming man who always thought of others
first and was a great friend to many. He loved sports, and was a
49’er faithful. He touched all that met him with his gentle manners
and wisdom. Family and friends were invited to a visitation at
Eggen & Lance on Friday Jan. 18 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. All were
invited to pray the rosary at 7 p.m. that same evening. On Saturday
a Requiem Latin Mass was at St Eugene’s in Santa Rosa at 9:30 a.m.
Funeral services followed immediately at Calvary cemetery at 11
a.m.
