The Eagles weathered a tough stretch on the NCL 1 varsity volleyball circuit last week, falling to title contenders Kelseyville and Middletown.
The setbacks were the first of the league campaign for Cloverdale, which dropped to third place with a 4-2 record and 12-3 overall.
At press time the Eagles were preparing to host first place Clear Lake on Oct. 3, followed by a Thursday, Oct. 5 visit to Willits. Match times starting with  the JV are 4:30 and 6 p.m.
The Eagles opened the action on Sept. 26 against visiting Kelseyville, falling to the Cardinals in three sets; 21-25, 16-25, 18-25. Sophomore outside hitter Tehya Bird led the Cloverdale attack with 16 kills, 12 digs and two blocks.
The ladies were back on the court in Middletown on Sept. 28, coming out on the short end of a tough, five set loss; 25-23, 14-25, 23-25, 25-20, 11-15.
Statistical leaders included Hannah Bireschi (17 service points, 5 kills, 13 digs, 30 assists), Bird (14 kills, 14 digs), Camryn Figueroa (10 kills, 6 service points) and Jaedyn Jenkins (25 digs).
