Virgilio Antonio Galdos, 82, passed away suddenly of natural causes on the evening of Friday, September 29, 2017, in Middletown, California.
“Tony,” as he was lovingly called, was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on October 21, 1934, and was the second of 11 siblings. He immigrated to the United States in 1955, where he lived in Oakland, San Francisco, Navarro, and Ukiah before finally settling in Cloverdale, California in 1971. He proudly worked and traveled the world as a Mariner with the United States Merchant Marines for 36 years. A die-hard Los Angeles Dodgers fan, Tony will be remembered for his stoic presence, quiet kindness and generous heart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elena Galdos; daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Joe Williams; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Jeff Dizon; daughter, Laura Galdos Dorr; daughter and son-in-law Maritza and Jason Smith; grandchildren, Janelle Aguirre, Reyna Aguirre, Tony Aguirre, Joe Williams, Tyler Dizon, Kaden Smith and Olivia Smith; local sister, Cleopatra Dal Balcon; local nieces and nephews Sandra Crayford, Dario Dal Balcon, Anna Bellegarde, Nina Faulkner, and Tony Dal Balcon; several local great nieces and nephews; and his several siblings, nieces and nephews remaining in Ecuador.
He is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Irma Galdos; sister, Magdalena Faulkner; brother, Francisco Galdos; brother, Pedro Galdos; and sister, Irma Galdos.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2017, at St. Peter’s Church, located at 491 S. Franklin Street, in Cloverdale, California. Reverend David Galeana will officiate. A reception will immediately follow at St. Peter’s hall. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tony’s life.
