Inspiring and amazing, Velia “Val” Mohar, at age 85, passed away
peacefully in Santa Rosa on Nov. 12, 2007, surrounded by her loving
family and friends. She was the dearly beloved wife of the late
Louis Mohar for 60 years; loving mother of Dennis Mohar of
Kemmerer, Wyoming, Janet Fleming and her husband Timothey of Las
Vegas, Nevada, Gail Moberg and her husband Robert of Windsor, Craig
Mohar and his wife Diane of Davis, and Francine Padilla and her
husband Rafael of Santa Rosa; adored grandmother of Michelle
Fleming, Erik Padilla and Keaton Mohar; dear sister of Frances
Echols. She was preceded in death by her brothers Charlie, Al and
Frank Lenatti. A native of Wyoming, Val and Louis moved to San
Francisco in 1946 and then settled in Santa Rosa. She was employed
at Food City for many years where she developed many lifelong
friends. Her passions in life included traveling, gardening, and
entertaining friends and family, but her true calling was caring
for others. She will always be remembered for her incredible
compassion, her generous and loving spirit and zest for life. Val’s
beloved family and countless friends will dearly miss her smiles,
laughter, and wonderful sense of humor. Her family would like to
express their gratitude to the nurturing staff at Primrose for
their dedication and support. Friends were invited to attend a
Funeral Mass Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Resurrection
Parish, 303 Stony Point Rd, Santa Rosa. Entombment followed at
Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Vigil Rites were held on Sunday, Nov. 18,
2007 at 4 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave.,
Santa Rosa. Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. If desired, memorial
contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1211 N.
