Loss drops Cloverdale’s record to 1-4 league and 1-9 for the season
The varsity baseball Eagles remained in search of league victories last week with NCL-1 losses to St. Helena (19-6) and Clear Lake (13-7).
The setbacks pushed Cloverdale’s season record to 1-4 in league and 1-9 on the season.
This week the Eagles will host Kelseyville on April 22 (after press time) before hitting the road for a game at Willits on Friday, April 25. Cloverdale will return home to host Lower Lake next Tuesday, April 29. All games start at 4 p.m.
Starting pitcher Jonathon Alvarez took the loss in the April 15 clash with St. Helena.  Despite the loss the Eagles mounted a strong offensive attack, led by top hitters Logan Tate (2 for 5), David Watson (2 for 4), Jacob McDonald (2 for 4) and Alvarez (2 for 4).
On Friday, the Eagles were roughed up for 13 runs in the first four innings, and then held off a late Cloverdale rally in an eventual 13-7 Clear Lake win. Logan Tate took the loss for the Eagles while leading hitters were Sam Swann (2 for 2) and Tate (3 for 4, 2B).  
JV stays perfect after pushing record to 12-0 and 6-0 in league
The JV Eagles pushed their season record to a sizzling 12-0 and 6-0 in league last week with home wins over St. Helena (10-0) and Clear Lake (7-1).
The Eagles forced an early stoppage after five innings in the April 15 meeting with St. Helena, as pitcher Michael McDermott (5 IP, 2 hits, 2 BBs, 9 Ks) picked up the win. Pacing the bat attack were Jared Hibbeln (1 for 3, RBI), Patrick Ojeda (2 for 3, 3 RBIs), Chris Harms (1 for 3), McDermott (1 for 1), and Travis Kitowski (2 for 3, 2B, 3 RBIs).
Starter Chris Harms logged a great outing in Friday’s start against Clear Lake, firing seven innings of three-hit ball, yielding just one run and matching his season-high of 12 strikeouts. Swinging hot bats were Mason Meier (2 for 5, RBI), Hibbeln (1 for 4), Ojeda (1 for 4), Harms (3 for 3, 2 RBIs), Angel Vega (1 for 3), Kitowski (2 for 3, RBI), and Logan Spain (1 for 3, RBI).
