The CHS Eagles Track & Field team completed its regular season by competing with 14 other teams at the Coastal Mountain Championship Meet on Saturday, May 17.
Shaylee Stotts led the Cloverdale Lady Eagles to a fourth place finish at the CMC by winning three individual events and anchoring a first place 4×100 meter relay team. “Shaylee, as a four-event CMC Champion is in a class by herself,” said coach Clint Kemp. Cloverdale finished with 89 points, Middletown had 90. Fort Bragg had 91 and first place St. Helena had 96 points.
The Freshman/Sophomore Boys 4×100 Relay Team consisting of Adrian Bernardi, Walker Zody, Nick Pilea and Kevin Ontiveros, won first place. Other place finishers on the team included Third place 100 – Adrian Bernardi; fifth place 100 meters-Kevin Ontiveros ; fourth place 200 meters-Adrian Bernardi; third place 400 meters-Kevin Ontiveros; sixth place 800 meters-Nick Rilea and fourth place discus-Jacob Perlenfein. Boys Varsity’s Cole MacDonald earned a sixth place finish in the discus event.
The varsity girls earned a first place finish in the 4×100 meter relay event with an excellent showing by team members Perla Anguiano, Viviana Martinez, Angel Bernardi and Shaylee Stotts. Stotts also placed first for 100,200 and 400 meter events. Other place finishers on the team included third place 200 meters-Perla Anguiano; sixth place 200 meters-Viviana Martinez; fifth place 800 meters-Anabelle Doyle; third place 3200 meters-Angela Romero; fifth place 3200 meters- Katie Edwards and sixth place discus- Haleigh Alhborn.
Medal winners Perla Anguiano, Angel Bernardi, Viviana Martinez and Staylee Stotts (4×100 meter relay), Shaylee Stotts (100, 200, 400 meters and 4×100 relay), Viviana Martinez (100, 200 meters, long jump, 4×100 relay), Perla Anguiano (200 meter, 4×100 meter relay), Angel Bernardi (4×100 meter relay), Katie Edwards (1600 and 3200 meters), Angela Romero (3200 meters), Anabelle Doyle (800 meters), Marty Beard (100 and 300 hurdles), Lupita Martinez (100 and 300 meter hurdles) Haleigh Alhborn (shot and discus), Cole MacDonald (discus) all qualified to advance to the NCS Championship Meet at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa which was held Saturday, May 24.
At that championship meet, Shaylee Stotts led the Cloverdale girls to seventh place where 26 teams competed. She finished second in the 400 meters, first in the 200 meters and anchored a 4×100 relay team with fellow runners Perla Anguiano, Viviana Martinez and Angel Bernardi.
The top three finishers in each event are advancing to the Las Schwab “Meet of Champions” this Friday, May 30 in Berkeley.
