Editor: I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many
members of our community who generously loaned treasured pieces of
their personal toy collections to the Healdsburg Museum &
Historical Society for this year’s “Magical Toyland “ exhibit.
Thanks to their generosity, we are privileged to share an
incredible array of toys and games from the 1860s to the 1960s.
From Kewpie dolls to the original Gumby, there is literally
something for everyone. The highlight of this year ‘s exhibit is a
miniature city complete with a skyscraper, a Sears store, a fire
station, a gas station and hospital.
I hope you will take the opportunity to join us during our
Holiday Open Houses on Saturdays, Dec. 5, 12, and 19 from 1 to 3
p.m. These special events will include access to some of the toys,
a puppet show, storytelling, carols and homemade treats.
The exhibit will also be available for viewing during the
museum’s regular hours Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4
p.m. The museum is located at 221 Matheson St., Healdsburg.
Admission is always free.
