Wondering what your neighbors had to say at the Sustainable Tourism Forum? Here are the transcripts.
On May 31, a citizen group called The Healdsburg Coalition held a “Sustainable Tourism Forum” at the Healdsburg Community Center. After speakers expressed gratitude for the benefits of tourism to the local economy, many also expressed concerns that Healdsburg is too anxious to attract tourism-oriented development and that the growth of that sector of the economy needs to be controlled.
Participants gathered in four groups and discussed the themes of “Downtown,” “Neighborhoods,” “Hotels/Tourist Rooms” and “Affordable Housing & Rentals.”
Each group then listed their “Concerns,” “Hopes” and “Ideas” on chart sheets and Post-it Notes.
At the conclusion of the forum, Healdsburg Coalition leaders agreed to make the notes from the forum available to the public through the newspaper. The transcriptions of these notes are here:
