Analy softballer Carson Rasmussen made the tag on a Petaluma baserunner in a 12-2 win in the first clash against Petaluma this season. The teams remain tied for the SCL lead heading into the final week of the season.

Analy to host SCL playoff tourney on May 17
It’s a battle to the wire in the Sonoma County League softball race, as arch-rivals Analy and Petaluma enter the final week of the regular season tied atop the standings with two games remaining.
At the start of play this week the Lady Tigers and Trojans were deadlocked with a 9-1 league record, followed by Sonoma Valley (7-3), Healdsburg (5-6), Piner (3-6), El Molino (2-7) and Elsie Allen (0-11).
At press time the Tigers (18-4 overall) were preparing to close out the league campaign at home with dates against El Molino (May 10) and Piner (May 12, Senior Day, 4 p.m.), while Petaluma has remaining home games against Piner and Sonoma Valley.
Should the teams finish in a tie as expected they will be co-champions, with the North Coast Section automatic playoff berth to be decided next week in the SCL Tournament hosted by Analy on May 17-19. Since the Tigers and Trojans split their season series, the team with the most wins in the SCL tourney will get the automatic NCS berth.
Tigers in a rout
Analy played host to the visiting Healdsburg Greyhounds in their lone outing of the week on May 3, spotting the Hounds an early 4-1 lead. Not a problem, as the Tigers took command with four runs in the third, three in the fourth, and three more insurance runs in the sixth en route to a 12-4 win.
Saja Spearman-Weaver (7 IP, 9 hits, 3 ERs, 9 Ks) notched the victory, while leading Analy hitters included Crystal Gevas (3 for 4, 3B), Kaiya Ming (2 for 4, run, RBI), Carson Rasmussen (2 for 4, run, RBI), Gemma Gonzalez (2 for 3, run, 3 RBIs), Makeyla Kraemer (1 for 3, 3 runs, RBI), Kelsi Roman (1 for 4, 3B, run), Claire Nelson (1 for 3, 2 runs, RBI) and Mackenzie Evangelisti (1 for 4, 2 runs).
Lions fall to Hounds
El Molino was out for a season sweep when they traveled to Healdsburg for the second meeting between teams on May 5, but could not duplicate the performance that led to a 6-3 win last month. It was all Healdsburg in this one, setting the tone with a four-run rally in the first before adding four more in the fourth on their way to a 10-5 Hound’s win (no stats reported).
The Lions will close out the season this week with road and home games versus Analy (May 10) and May 12 against visiting Elsie Allen (Senior Day, 4 p.m.).
