The varsity football Tigers began their toughest stretch of the 2019 season amid smoky skies in Rohnert Park on Oct. 25, weathering a 49-13 loss at the hands of Rancho Cotate.
The loss extended the Tiger’s losing streak to eight games and pushed their league and overall records to 0-4 and 1-8, while Rancho Cotate improved to 3-1 in the NBL and 6-3 on the year.
The game went off as scheduled despite cancellations to most North Bay League games due to the Kincade fire, with air quality the main issue for most venues.
With widespread evacuations in place at the time of this writing, Analy’s scheduled NBL home finale against Cardinal Newman has been postponed until Friday, Nov. 8 (Senior Night). Kickoff times for the JV and varsity are 4:30 and 7 p.m.
Cougars over Tigers
The Tigers proved no match for Rancho, as the Cougars raced to a 21-0 lead after one. Down 42-0, the Tigers got on the board late in the first half when quarterback Gavin Allingham completed a long pass to receiver Kolby Elledge to the Rancho four-yard line. The play resulted in a one-yard scoring dive by Allingham as Analy trailed 42-6 at the half.Â
The Cougars went to a clock-eating running game after intermission, with each team trading second half scores. The Tigers found paydirt again in the fourth quarter on a two-yard touchdown burst from Kaden Fox, but the Cougars would cruise to a 49-13 victory.
