Analy to host Rancho Cotate on Friday; El Mo visits Montgomery
One thing is abundantly clear in the first season following league football realignment – there are no easy dates on the schedule.
The Tigers have been painfully aware of that fact in the ultra competitive Oak Division, with their most recent setback coming on Friday in a 32-0 loss at Ukiah.
The setback pushed Analy’s league mark to 1-2 and 3-5 on the year while Ukiah improved to 2-1 in the NBL and 6-2 overall.
Things won’t get any easier when the Tigers play host to powerful Rancho Cotate this Friday, Oct. 19, in a 7:30 p.m. varsity kickoff.
“Ukiah was a tough team, and we were never able to get anything to click,” Tigers’ head coach James Foster said. “We have another tough opponent ahead of us with Rancho. We’ll have to work hard in practice to make sure we don’t repeat our performance from last week.”
Wildcats throttle Tigers
Friday’s visit to Ukiah was a lesson in frustration for the Analy offense, unable to muster much against a strong Wildcat defense.  The Tigers spotted the hosts an early 13-0 lead, following a pair of first-quarter possessions and trailed 25-0 at the half. Ukiah added one score after intermission en route to a 32-0 rout.
Analy quarterback Nic Visser finished the night with 14 completions on 24 pass attempts for 146 yards, adding six carries for 74 yards on the ground. Tyler Nebozuk led the receiving corps with six catches for 61 yards, while Matt Pavon hauled in four catches for 47 yards.
Lions to visit Montgomery
The El Molino Lions (1-1, 2-5) should be relatively fresh coming off a bye in the NBL Redwood Division schedule last week, as they prepare for an Oct. 19 road trip to first place Montgomery.  Kickoff times for the JV and varsity are 5 and 7:30 p.m.
The Vikings (3-0, 7-2) are riding a four-game winning stretch, following a 29-8 win over Piner on Oct. 12, and figure to pose a tough test for the Lions this week.
“Montgomery has very good athletes, and we’ll have to play assignment defense well,” El Mo head coach Randy Parmeter said. “On offense we’ll need to be consistent and control the ball to keep it out of their hands for as long as possible.”
