Analy will host Piner on Friday, El Mo visits Elsie Allen
The five-time defending league champion Analy Tigers got back on track on Oct. 6 at Sonoma Valley, running all over the host Dragons in a Friday nigh clash at Arnold Field.
The win was the Tigers’ 34th straight league victory dating back to 2011 and kept them atop the current SCL standings at 2-0 and an overall 3-3 on the year.
Analy will resume league action in friendly confines this Friday, Oct. 13 when it hosts Piner in the annual Homecoming Game. Kickoff times for the JV and varsity are 5 and 7:30 p.m. The Prospectors (1-2, 3-4) are coming off a 50-19 loss to Petaluma.
Meanwhile, the El Molino Lions (2-0, 4-2) are fresh off a bye and will visit Elsie Allen (0-3, 1-4) on Oct. 13 in a 7:30 varsity start. The Lobos came out on the short end of a 27-20 tilt at Healdsburg on Friday.
Tigers in a rout
The Tigers left nothing to chance in an explosive showing at Sonoma, as senior quarterback Brenden Medina led an aerial assault that quickly had the Dragons facing a big deficit by halftime en route to a 48-0 romp.
“We started off slowly, but were really able to open it up,” Tigers head coach James Foster said. “It was good to see our offense get in rhythm and our defense hold the whole game.”
Medina was on fire, completing 19 of 32 pass attempts for 364 yards and six touchdowns. Top pass catchers included Jacob Ponzo (4-157 yards receiving, 2 TDs) and Tony Siri (4-50 yards receiving, TD).
Leading the defensive effort were Anthony Lepori (8 tackles, fumble recovery) and Toren Callison (2 fumble recoveries).
