has announced the sixth annual Sonoma County Pruning
Championship beginning with Appellation Contests from Jan. 17-21.
The four top finishers will win pruning tools plus cash awards:
$100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third and fourth places.
First and second place winners from each appellation advance to the
Sonoma County Championship on Feb. 2 at SRJC Shone
Farm
. SCGGA will provide $500 for the winner, $250 for
first runner up, and $150 for third place and $100 for fourth
place. The Sonoma County champion and second place finisher will
advance to the California State Pruning Championship presented by
Bahco Pruning Tools on Feb. 25 at Shone Farm and compete for $1,000
in total prize money. Vineyard employees interested in competing in
the Jan 17-21 Appellation contestants must have their employers
submit entries to SCGGA, fax 206-0313 by noon of the previous
contest day. Entry forms can be found on the Sonoma County Grape
Growers Association website, www.scgga.org, or by calling
206-0603.
