Grapplers — El Molino's Josh Wright and Analy's Yogi Bazzano were two of 15 competing West County athletes at the NCS Wrestling Championships last weekend at James Logan High School in Union City.

West County high school wrestlers took the mat on Feb. 26-27 at the North Coast Section Championships held at James Logan High School in Union City, as El Molino and Analy combined to send 15 competing athletes.   
The meet consisted of preliminary rounds on Friday, with the championship matches contested on Saturday.
The goal of most participants was a top-three NCS finish, good for advancement to the prestigious CIF State Championships at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield on Mar. 4-5.
Representing El Molino at the NCS meet were 142-pound Sam MacDonell, El Molino’s 147-pound Eddie Lopez, 154-pound Sire Clark, 162-pound Josh Wright, 172-pound Christian Ohlin, 197-pound Leo Garza, and heavyweight Travis Adams.
Competing for Analy were 108-pound Trevor Bagan, 115-pound Dalton Gavriloff, 128-pound Austin Henry, 134-pound Ben Talcott, 140-pound Yogi Bazzano, 122-pound Jackson Jones (3rd place), 197-pound Alex Perriera and 222-pound Ariel Merhav.
Bagan and McDonell turned in great tournament performances, narrowly missing a state qualifying bid with a pair of fourth place finishes.  El Mo’s Josh Wright also made it to the second day of competition.
