Martin Luther King’s birthday
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration takes
place the weekend of Jan. 16-18 with a variety of events, concerts
and children’s programs. The weekend celebration culminates with a
Sunday, Jan. 18 event at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts
from 7-9 p.m., which will include a film about the Civil Rights
Movement, singers, choirs and a special children’s program. All
events free. Other weekend events include a children’s poetry
reading celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr. at R.L.
Stevens School (corner of Stony Point Road and Giffin Avenue, Santa
Rosa) on Friday, Jan. 16 from 6-8 p.m. On Saturday night there will
be poetry and music celebrating the life and ideals of Dr. King at
two Santa Rosa locations: Epiphany Musical Instruments and Aroma
Roasters Coffee House in Railroad Square. For information about any
