Spring plant sales in Occidental
The illustrious Occidental Arts & Ecology Center will host
its annual spring plant sales on April 10 & 11 and again on May
1 & 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 15290 Coleman Valley Rd. in
Occidental. The plants are California Certified Organic seedlings,
open-pollinated, heirloom and rare varieties, including perennials.
The April sale will be early spring crops; lettuces, peas,
brasicas, chards, leeks and greens. The May sale is warm season
crops; tomatoes, basil, melons, squash, peppers, eggplants, gourds

Walker reads from new novel
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker will read from her
new novel, “Now is the Time to Open Your Heart,” on Tuesday, May 4
at 7 p.m. at the Sonoma Country Day School’s Jackson Theater. The
event is sponsored by Copperfield’s Books and tickets are available
at any Copperfield’s starting Monday, April 12. The event benefits
the Sonoma County Book Fair. Call 823-2618 for information.
