The group formerly known as Stewards of
Slavianka and now known as the Stewards of the Coast and
Redwoods has some great volunteer opportunities in the coming year.
The Stewards provide educational and resource management programs
in the state parks through their “Volunteers in Parks” program. If
you’re interested in learning more, you can attend a General
Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at
the Koret Club in Monte Rio. Volunteer opportunities include
watershed projects, nature guide programs, whale watch, seal watch,
tidepool education, restoration and clean up, trail crews, staffing
visitors centers and marine debris monitoring. For more

Fund-raiser for Jewish Community Free Clinic
The Jewish Community Free Clinic will show a family movie, “The
Frisco Kid,” starring Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford, on Thursday,
Dec. 25 at the Friedman Center in Santa Rosa. The event, which will
benefit the free clinic, will be from 2-6 p.m. and will include a
kid-friendly lunch. There will be entertainment by Scott Gerber,
the Yiddish Cowboy, who performs songs and lasso tricks. Tickets
are $20 for adults, $10 for children 6 and older, and kids under 5
