Benefit for Kenyan Health Clinic
The Community Baptist Church in Santa Rosa is hosting a
fund-raising event for the health clinic in rural Kenya they are in
the process of building (West County activist Mary Moore is part of
the effort.) The Saturday, May 29, 6 p.m. event will be held at the
church on Sonoma Avenue and will include singing by the Community
Baptist Church Choir and soloists Gene Viale and Dorcas Tyson, a
dinner featuring African and soul food and a silent auction. All
proceeds will help complete the clinic. More than 600 people a day
are dying of AIDS in Kenya, and the clinic will provide affordable
health care and antiretroviral medication to those infected with
HIV.
Face to Face marks 20th anniversary
And closer to home, Sonoma County’s preeminent HIV/AIDS
non-profit agency, Face to Face, will hold a reception celebrating
its 20th year of existence. On Sunday, June 13, from 5-7:30 p.m.
“Proof Positive” will take place at the Mary Agatha Furth Center in
Windsor. The reception will include hors d’oeuvres, no-host wine
bar and jazz by the Shelly Jae Group. Tickets are $20 per person
and larger donations are always accepted. A special feature of the
evening will be a portrait exhibit by seven photographers: “Brought
to Light: Faces of Selfless Giving.”
