Preserving the Pomo language
The languages, culture and religions of Native Californians have
been under attack for centuries. The California Indian Museum and
Cultural Center will present the California Indian Language Forum
on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 5250 Aero Dr., Santa
Rosa. This will be a presentation by a panel of Pomo individuals
who are engaged in preserving the Pomo language. They will describe
their efforts to protect and enhance Pomo cultures and religions
through language preservation. For more information, call the

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, “It’s Not Just a
Dream! We Must Make it Real,” will be held this Sunday, Jan. 16
from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, 50 Mark
West Springs Rd., Santa Rosa. It will feature a Civil Rights film,
performances, student oratories and a special children’s program.
