The graduating class of student athletes of 2019 from Windsor High School will be remembered for their many accomplishments, both on the field an in the classroom.
The athletes selected in this issue were among the shining stars of their class and all had one thing in common – they represented their school and teams with tremendous talent, dedication and sportsmanship.  
Although there were too many seniors to list, we congratulate the athletes for their accomplishments and pay tribute to a few with words and pictures. The following is the second of a two-part series.

(1) Skill – Blake Fredrickson will be remembered among the best wrestlers in the storied history of the Windsor High School program in a star-studded career for the Jags. Fredrickson captured multiple league and North Coast Section Championships and made history by claiming seventh and fifth place medals in consecutive years at the prestigious CIF State Championships.  Photo John Sachs
(2)  Versatility – Jack Amormino was an outstanding all-around athlete earning varsity letters in basketball and tennis and emerging as a team leader in both programs. On the basketball court, he was a key member of the league champion Jaguars as a junior and a captain and productive scorer during his senior campaign. Amormino was the top singles player on the tennis team, advancing to the finals at the league tournament.  Photo Michael Lucid

(3) Athleticism – Vince Corday was as athletic as they come in a stellar multi-year track career at Windsor, rising to become the best hurdler in school history. Among his many accomplishments, Corday won league and North Coast Section REQ titles and smashed the WHS record by a whopping 90 seconds in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a sizzling, 39.56. (4) Talent – Tyler Hellums enjoyed a sparkling multi-season baseball career for the Jaguars, establishing himself as the team’s pitching ace. Hellums earned all league honors each season, including Pitcher of the Year this spring and led the Jaguars to their first ever North Bay League Redwood Division championship. Photo provided

(5) Endurance – Lucas Chung was simply the finest distance runner in WHS history during a stellar, four-year cross country and track career. Along the way he captured individual league titles and set school records in each sport, making multiple trips to the CIF State Cross Country Championships. Photo Michael Lucid

(6) Determination – Jordan Merical made his mark as a talented and productive player during a distinguished basketball career for the Jaguars, using outstanding shooting and defensive skills to help the team. Merical earned all league honors and was a key member of Windsor’s 2017-18 championship squad. Photo Michael Lucid

(7) Power – Cyrus Soltanizadeh was a tremendous player on the football field and baseball diamond during a multi-year run for the Jaguars. A captain on the gridiron, Soltanizadeh was a handful as a fullback and defensive end. He was even better on the diamond, where he starred as a pitcher, third baseman and catcher who could hit for average and power. Photo provided

(8) Strength – Austin Jacob was a great all-around performer on Jags’ football and wrestling teams, using strength and power to his advantage. An immovable force on offensive and defensive lines in football, Jacob was a team captain. On the wrestling mat, Jacob was an accomplished heavyweight and league medalist on league and NCS Duals championship teams, making multiple trips to the NCS tournament. Photo provided

(9) Consistency – Will Matthews established himself as one of the best players on talented WHS baseball teams during a stellar, all-league run for the Jaguars, making big contributions with his glove and bat. The sure-handed infielder rose to become one of his team’s top hitters, earning NBL Redwood Division Player of the Year honors in helping Windsor to a first-ever league title. Photo Greg Clementi

(10) Tenacity – Lorenzo Leon was the best running back on multiple varsity football teams at Windsor, amassing a combined 1,300 yards rushing in his junior and senior seasons. A two-way player, he was also a key cog in the defense as a hard-hitting linebacker. Leon’s strength and talent translated well to the wrestling mat as an NCS qualifier.  Photo Greg Clementi
