The graduating class of student athletes of 2019 from Cloverdale High School will be remembered for their many accomplishments, both on the field and in the classroom.
The athletes selected in this issue were among the shining stars of their class and all had one thing in common — they represented their school and teams with tremendous talent, dedication and sportsmanship. Â
Although there were too many seniors to list, we congratulate the athletes for their accomplishments and pay tribute to a few with words and pictures. The following is the second of a two-part series, this time focusing on male athletes.Â
TALENT — Keller Sibert logged a long and distinguished career on CHS baseball teams in four varsity seasons, emerging as one of the top pitchers on the staff. A mainstay in the line-up, Sibert contributed with his arm and bat, helping his teams advance to the North Coast Section playoffs. He also earned a varsity letter in basketball.

SKILL — Cesar Buenrostro was among the top athletes of his graduating class, making his mark as an elusive ball carrier in three varsity football seasons. One of the team’s top offensive threats, Buenrostro led the Eagles to the NCS playoffs each season. He was also a member of the varsity baseball team.

VERSATILITY — Drew Edens never met a sport he didn’t like during a stellar multi-year run on Eagles football, basketball and baseball teams. A two-way player in football, Edens was a force on both sides of the ball. He was a sharp-shooting guard on the basketball court, but his best moments may have come on the baseball diamond, where he was a sure-handed infielder and consistent hitter.

PRODUCTION — Mario Lopez made big contributions in a pair of strong varsity basketball seasons for the Eagles, using his skill and leadership from the guard position. Equally effective shooting from the perimeter or driving to the basket, Lopez averaged 10 points per game and was a key factor in Cloverdale’s run to the North Coast Section playoffs.

TOUGHNESS — Jone Wesele was the top running back on the squad in a pair of standout football seasons for the Eagles, leading the team with his punishing style and durability. Wesele averaged more than 100 yards per game his senior season while doubling as a hard-hitting defender. His toughness set the tone for the entire team on the road to the NCS playoffs. He also earned a varsity letter in baseball.

VERSATILITY — Tucker Morgan was a key member of varsity cross country and baseball teams during a distinguished sports career at Cloverdale. His strength and endurance on the cross country trails translated well to the baseball diamond, where he was a reliable hitter, pitcher and outfielder.
