Residents of the neighborhood north of Windsor’s Sutton Park are
gearing up for their second annual neighborhood cleanup this
Saturday, according to leaders of volunteer organization Sutton
Parks Neighborhoods.
“A clean neighborhood is a nice neighborhood,” said Karen
Lovell, one of the cleanup organizers. A large number of
volunteers, including three members of the Town Council,
contributed to the success of last year’s event. Lovell said town
officials are once again being invited to participate.
“It was pretty cool last year,” said Windsor Middle School sixth
grader Justin Hassenzahl while sitting on a bench in Sutton Park
last Friday. “Helping out the neighborhood and making it look
better is a good thing,” his friend, seventh grader Rudy Ponce,
agreed.
West Sonoma County Disposal Service will provide dumpsters and
garbage pickup throughout the neighborhood, which is bordered by
Orion Drive, Binggeli Drive, Robbie Way and Starr View Drive. The
cleanup will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, September
13. Headquarters for volunteers will be at 9710 Orion Drive.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves.
Sutton Park Neighborhoods is active throughout the year. The
group’s fourth annual barbeque will take place on September 27 in
Sutton Park. They have also sponsored debates during town elections
and fire safety awareness events.
