Kids gathered for a group photo on June 15, 2016 at the annual week-long basketball camp conducted by the WHS varsity boys team.

Summer off-season basketball is in full swing for Windsor High School boys and girls programs, combining successful youth camps with a full slate of tournament action.
Both programs held youth camps on June 13-17, teaching fundamentals and the finer nuances of the game to a big group of local kids.
Last weekend, the Lady Jaguars hosted the eighth annual Sonoma County Shootout on June 24-26, an event that featured 16 varsity teams and eight JV squads. Each varsity team played five games, making for some great weekend competition. Participating teams included: Windsor, Analy, Sonoma Valley, Montgomery, San Marin, Marin Catholic, Healdsburg and Cloverdale.
“The tournament was a successful fundraiser for us,” WHS varsity coach Jeff Paul reported. “Due to many injuries to returning varsity players, we were playing with a skeleton crew of one returning starter, and two returning reserves. The remainder of the team is made up of returning JV players filling in for the injured varsity players.”
Windsor went 3-2 in the tourney, scoring wins over Rincon Valley Christian (45-26), Ukiah (50-33), and Sonoma Valley (41-40), falling to Marin Catholic (47-23) and Redwood (49-46).
Although no official stats were kept, the Lady Jags were led by veterans Hannah May and Tori Russotti, who each averaged double figures in scoring.
The ladies will wrap up the summer schedule with the Novato Classic tourney on July 8-10.
Summer Shootout on tap
The WHS boys squad will ramp up their off-season program when it hosts the annual Summer Shootout Tournament in the main gymnasium on July 16-17. Although the full line-up of teams has not been announced, the event is expected to attract some 20 participating schools.
