The Russian River Rose Company in Healdsburg has announced its spring garden and nursery events for 2017.
On April 8 and 9, focus will turn to “Glorious Irises — Bedazzlers of Spring.” Tolmasoff calls irises “orchids you can walk on” and there will be 150 varieties on display at this event. Irises are drought tolerant, easy to grow and hundreds will be for sale in the nursery. Special tours will take place both days at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with a suggested donation of $2.
April 15 and 16 the early blooming roses and the iris grand show will be in full swing in the garden. On display will be, among other flowers, the huge Lady Banks rose from 1820, the rare mystery rose “Hearts Desire Pink” and the tea rose Souv. De Mme. Leonie Viennot from 1898. Hundreds of roses and irises will be for sale in the nursery. There will be special tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. On Easter Sunday, April 16, the nursery will be open, but no special tours offered.
