See’s Candy Fundraiser and Crafters Nook

The Senior Center is holding its annual See’s Candy Fundraiser at the Senior Center Front Desk. Come see us and support senior recreation programming. While you are here, check out our Crafters’ Nook, which is full of wonderful arts and crafts made by talented seniors. For more details, please call 707-838-1250 or just drop by to get some candy for friends for the holidays or some lovely handmade goods made by local senior artisans.
Computer Users’ Group Monday, December 12
1-4 p.m.
Program speakers will be our in-house consultants Mr. Ross Guistino and Mr. Jim Tubb who will be presenting a “Year End Wrap Up” with Donna Crawford. Topics will include “Word Tips and Tricks” and “Security and Scams.” General question and answer period starts at 1 p.m. and will be extended to after the presentation. Come, enjoy, learn and network. Fee is $3; newcomers free. Everyone is invited to stay and attend a short meeting on Speakers for 2017.

10:20-11:20 a.m.
Get head-to-toe results with functional strength training, concentrating on building core strength and full body conditioning. A variety of equipment such as free weights, resistance bands and floor mats will be used to create more mobility and strength for daily activities. Weight training will help to increase bone density and build more muscle. Work at your own pace and with the weights that work for you. Bring your yoga mat or borrow one of ours. The cost is $5 to drop in.
A Matter of Balance – Wed., Jan. 11 – March 1
1-3 p.m.
This course is intended for seniors whose fear of falling compromises their level of social and physical activity. Led by Beverly Winsor of Sonoma County’s Human Services Department, this free course is designed to help participants: learn how to create a safer home environment; identify fall risks including issues regarding medications; learn problem-solving strategies to address behavior and habits that contribute to falls, and learn safety-promoting life style strategies; learn some simple exercises to promote strength, flexibility and balance, all which contribute to stability, and learn about community resources for added support with these topics. There is no fee for this 8-week course; donations kindly accepted.
