A Matter of Balance • Begins Thursday, May 4 • 2:30-4:30 p.m. • Free
The ability to drive safely was a competency we strived to acquire when we were sixteen. Maintaining good balance is a competency just as important as we age to ensure we are able to safely navigate our world. This fun, free 8-week program sponsored by the County’s Human Services Dept. is intended for seniors whose fear of falling compromises their level of physical or social activity. The program is also beneficial to those who have not experienced imbalance or fall injury but who wish to be proactive in learning practical and empowering strategies for addressing risky behaviors and problematic habits. The program’s overall goal is building awareness and confidence, key components for being steady on your feet. Participants identify individual solutions to their unique and pressing real-world challenges through interactive and supportive problem-solving. Simple and safe chair exercises begin in Session #3 and are designed to build strength, flexibility and overall conditioning in areas of the body that contribute to stability. To sign up please call (707) 838-1250.
Erin Stroud is the recreation program supervisor at the Windsor Senior Center, located at 9231 Foxwood Drive. You can contact her by calling 838-1250.
