Editor: If you read the accounts of the H1N1 flu virus you soon
become aware that the veracity of this flu virus varies depending
on the host. Epidemiologists have been telling us for a few years
now that the flu probably hits us in the winter due to the fact
that our vitamin D levels drop when the sun is not as intense. For
about 4 cents a day, we can boost our vitamin D levels to enhance
our innate immunity. Those with strong immune systems don’t have to
worry about the flu or vaccinations. Why aren’t our County Health
officials telling everyone this?
I don’t know. I have written a letter to the good doctors but
have never received an answer. Is it because they and we are part
of a “sick care” system that depends on drug manufacturers to tell
us what to do? Are only the products of drug companies to save us?
Do we have any personal responsibility to stay healthy?
This folds right in to the health care reform chaos: We’d rather
call each other “Hitler” and “liar” over ‘who,’ ‘how much,’ and
‘who pays’ than to take a good look in the mirror and make a real
change in the way we live. This is the only way out of this
conundrum folks: Cap the well of chronic diseases.
President Obama knows this. Follow his lead. Quit eating the
poison BigFood tells you is food and quit asking for the drugs
BigPharma promotes on Prime Time. You can’t medicate your way out
of a condition you behaved yourself into. And I’m the first to
admit that I have a ways to go myself. That’s why you see me
walking around the lakes at Riverfront Regional Park several times
each week.
Wish me luck and I hope to see more of us at the Park. For more
information on vitamin D, how to measure it, what are healthy
levels and what doses to take, visit www.grassrootshealth.org.
There are stories and studies and information about the miracle of
Vitamin D (psst, it’s a hormone, not a vitamin). You can get your
levels tested and have someone monitor your levels.
Healthcare is a verb. Stay well.
