The San Francisco Mime Troupe and the S.F. Mime Troupe Band,
will be among the entertainers and speakers during the 6th annual
Progressive Festival on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in
Walnut Park in Petaluma. The event will feature more than 50
progressive, environmental, social justice and community
organizations. Speakers will include Daniel Ellsberg, Medea
Benjamin (director of Global Exchange) and West County residents
Barbara Lubin (Middle East Children’s Alliance) and Richard
Heinberg (environmental author and New College Professor).
Performers will include the Raging Grannies and Xagua Gura
(indigenous music and dance from Mexico). Admission is free.
Winter Gardening Workshop is free
A free workshop by Master Gardener Cal Crandall will be
presented on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. in the Windsor Regional
Library. Cal will hold forth with information on “Planting a Winter
Garden, Vegetables, Flowers, Companion Planing and Plans for Raised
Beds.” Winter gardening requires less watering and presents fewer
pest problems, and provides gardeners with fresh produce through
the winter months. The library is located at 9291 Old Redwood
