Senior swimming standout David Crippes capped an outstanding
spring campaign on May 19 and 20 with a 16th-place finish in the
100-yard butterfly at the North Coast Section Championships in
Walnut Creek.
Crippes came into the meet seeded 35th out of 40 swimmers in the
event and bested 19 other athletes in posting a personal best time
of 55.25. The fast clocking was the third straight week that he had
lowered his PR, having posted a time of 56.1 at the Sonoma County
League finals a week earlier.
The NCS meet marked a meteoric high school career for Crippes,
who has only been swimming competitively for two years. His
exploits have not been confined to the pool, as he¹s carried a 4.43
grade-point average at HHS and is among the top four percent in his
class academically. Crippes hopes to join his brother at the United
States Air Force Academy next fall.
