The Sebastopol Little league celebrated the start of an historic 60th campaign at Laguna Park on April 1, marking the occasion with a full slate of opening day festivities.
The annual rite of spring included a cake-walk, silent auction, jump houses, carnival games, dunk tank, and a fully equipped snack bar and barbecue.
The league paid tribute to the inaugural 1957 season, with 12 original players from that year running the bases, followed by the traditional introduction of teams, Little League pledge and national anthem.
This year the SLL will include some 350 players ranging in age from 4 to16, filling out 35 teams in six different divisions. Regular season games will run through mid-June, followed by the Tournament of Champions, before finishing up with District-35 All Star tournaments in July.
The 2017 SLL board consists of President Lou Castleberry, Vice President Jenny Sanchietti, Treasurer Joan Holden, Secretary Carmen Sinigiani, Registrar Dawn Drew, Umpire in Chief Mike Simpson, Coaching Coordinator Josh Long, Player Agent Brent Ono, Billboard Coordinator Adam Dillon, Snack Bar Coordinator Cassandra O’Brien, Equipment/Uniforms Phil Nichols, Fields Chief Jeffrey Palk and Safety Officer Courtney Ratto.Â
