Sara S. Bleibaum, aged 88, passed away from natural causes on May 9, 2018 in Santa Rosa, CA.

Sara was born Sara Sue Hague on April 14, 1930 in Glendale, CA to Rose Crowell Hague and Kenneth Carman Hague. Sara and her family lived in various locations throughout Southern California in the early years of the Great Depression before settling in Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley in the early 1940s. Sara graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1948. She attended Whitworth College in Spokane, WA for two years before returning to the Los Angeles area. Sara was a model for a short time and then did clerical work for several firms, including Germain’s, a seed company, Nutri-Tonic, a company which made hair care products, and Lane & Co., a ceramics manufacturer famous for producing a fairly new product, the TV lamp.

Sara met her future husband, George S. Bleibaum, at the church they both attended. Sara and George were married at First Methodist Church, Van Nuys on February 20, 1954. The couple lived in Van Nuys and then bought their first home in North Hollywood just prior to the birth of their son, Kevin. A daughter, Janice, soon followed. The family moved to Panorama City in 1966.

Sara stayed home to raise her family but began working part time as a reading assistant in the early 1970s. She worked as a crossing guard and then took on full time work as a clerk typist with the City of Los Angeles Building & Safety Department. Always wanting to complete her education, Sara obtained her AA degree from Valley College in 1980.
Following Sara’s retirement in 1990, she and George moved to Cameron Park in El Dorado County in 1992. The couple enjoyed their retirement years and made many friends in Cameron Park. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2004. Following George’s death in 2005, Sara moved to Windsor to be closer to her family. She later lived at Brookdale Chanate in Santa Rosa.

Sara was a gardener, a cat lover, a member of several church choirs, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She sewed many of her clothes when she was a young woman and later in life, made outfits and blankets for her grandkids, along with quilts. Most recently, she painted landscapes. Sara enjoyed reading mysteries and biographies and was a fervent San Francisco Giants fan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sara is survived by her son, Kevin and his wife, Becky, her daughter, Janice, her granddaughter Erin (Bleibaum) Danielski and her husband, Brandon, and her grandson, Alex Bleibaum.

A memorial service to honor Sara will be held at First Baptist Church of Windsor on June 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa.
