When Russell was 16 years old, he and his family moved to Cloverdale from Missouri when his parents chose to retire and live in Cloverdale to be near friends. He graduated from Cloverdale High School and soon after joined the army serving in Italy at the end of World War II. His time serving in the National Guard in Santa Rosa was probably his favorite job that he ever had. Russell taught his children the military anthems and the patriotic songs during many car trips. At the time of his death, he was a proud member of the Republican Central Committee and the Christian Science Church, both of Ukiah. He truly loved his friends there.

Russell was a local business owner in Cloverdale and also Ukiah when he moved there in 1993 and worked until he was 85, and danced until his stroke in early August.
His children are so grateful for Rosalinda’s loving care up to the end. Russell loved her family and were grateful for their love to him.
