Analy will compete in newly aligned Redwood Division
The 2018 high school cross country season will have a new look this fall as the Lions and Tigers hit the trails in the North Bay League’s newly aligned Redwood Division.
Both will compete with the likes of Cardinal Newman, Elsie Allen, Rancho Cotate and Windsor.
Under veteran coach Mark Grismer, the Tigers will be in a retooling mode with a relatively young roster that features 12 seniors, three juniors, 14 sophomores and 12 freshmen.
Back to lead the squad are four-year senior veteran Grace Moussa and junior Alec Dierke, two of the top runners in the division.
Other seniors are Jocelyn Alcocer, Abby Erlandson, Clara Kurzmeier, Carol Lopez, Chloe Parish, Olivia Rist, Elijah Albertson, Eddie Calloway, Jimmy Carreras and Garrett Mendivil. Juniors include Dierke, Juliet Capriola and Clayton Christensen.
The big group of sophomores features Molly Parks, Emmannuel Anjeh, Amitiel Ashley-Haran, Jesse Borba, Nikolas Brandt, Rowan Campbell-Voss, Elijah Chamberlin, Collin Elliott, Zach Fogg, Niklas Leet, Max Peinkofer, Zac Tiemann, Aidan Rice and Oscar Torres-Sosa. Freshmen are Maddy Christensen, Bella D’Amico, Carolina Dawson, Eddie Borba, Jack Cheshier-Fraenkle, Ethan Dierke, Aiden Finegan, Jedediah Hornback, Braulio Juarez-Rico, Anthony Lopez, Joey Thompson and Elijah Trainor.
Although the team may be looking to the future, the Tigers continue to win the numbers game in a program that is among the most popular in the school.
“We have a nearly completely new team of frosh-soph kids so I really can’t say much yet,” Grismer said when asked about his charges. “Perhaps after we run the Viking Open and our own Tiger Twilight 2-Miler in the next couple of weeks, we’ll know more.”
Next week: a look at the Running Lions.
