FRONT RUNNERS — Analy’s Sierra Atkins and Healdsburg’s Gabrielle Peterson staged a pair of exciting races in the 1,600 meter event in recent meets, including the Viking Classic at Montgomery on Saturday.

Analy and El Molino track teams turned up the heat in a pair of home dual meets on April 17, as the Tigers played host to Healdsburg, while the Lions entertained Montgomery.
In addition, both teams sent a contingent to the annual Viking Classic meet on Saturday on Montgomery’s newly renovated track in Santa Rosa.
The Lion’s varsity boys squad was narrowly edged by the Vikings in the April 17 meet, 70-65, but got great efforts from event winners Austin Kelsey (shot put, discus), Ethan Ransome (100 meters), Jake Chauvin (1,600 meters) and Soul Berna (long jump, triple jump).
The El Mo varsity girls were edged by Montgomery 74-61, but got winning performances from Kassidy Sani (triple jump, shot put, discus), Audrey Serrano (200 meters), Jeanne Broome (400 meters) and Sienna Fassett (3,200 meters).
Tigers turn back Greyhounds 
Meanwhile in Sebastopol, the varsity Tigers claimed a clean sweep over visiting Healdsburg in their dual meet on April 17, with the boys notching an 81-41 victory while the girls won 71-53.
Earning individual wins for the Analy boys were Alec Dierke (110 meter high hurdles), Ian Shine (400 meters), Arthur Taganashi (100, 200 meters), Quinn Vermeulen (300 meter intermediate hurdles), Joey Thompson (3,200 meters), Collin Elliott (high jump), Joshua Drake (discus) and Sam Purdue (shot put).
Logging wins for the varsity girls were Sierra Atkins (800 meters), Maddie Windsor (200, 400 meters), Abigail Erlandson (discus) and Emma Milaglov (high jump, 300 intermediate hurdles).
