Front runners – Analy’s Alec Dierke and El Molino’s Evelin Ramirez were the top finishers for their respective varsity teams at the Sonoma County League Cross Country Championships at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa on Saturday.

Teams move on to NCS meet this Saturday in Hayward
Local high school runners took advantage of cool weather conditions on Nov. 11 at the Sonoma County League Cross-Country Championships held at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa, a meet that decided both team and individual titles.  
Piner captured the varsity boys team title, while Sonoma Valley was crowned varsity girls champion. 
Analy standout Alec Dierke led a strong West County contingent, capturing ninth place overall among varsity boys. Rounding out the top five Tigers were Jack Reynolds (21st), Josh Bergbauer (22nd), Clayton Christensen (28th) and Jimmy Carreras (33rd).   
El Molino’s Jake Chauvin paced the Lions with an 11th place finish, followed by teammates Eric Riordan (13th), Cassius Phillips (18th), Mael Chevrolet (29th) and Grant Feige (31st).    
Analy’s Grace Moussa was the top female finisher for the Tigers, followed by teammates Aquielle Nelson (9th), Amy Melman (21st), Claire Nelson (22nd) and Kennedy Parish (23rd).
Evelin Ramirez led a small Lady Lion’s contingent with a 13th place finish, with sister Jackie crossing the line in 18th place.
Next up for the Running Lions and Tigers are the North Coast Section Championships in Hayward this Saturday, Nov. 18, the last stop for athletes with State aspirations.
