The Windsor cross country squad took to the trails in a couple of weekend meets, turning in a great collective effort to garner medals.
Leading the charge at the prestigious Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29 was the sibling tandem of senior Lucas Chung and freshman sister Lilja Chung.Â
Lucas continued to etch his name in the school record books with a blistering five-kilometer time of 15:43, good for 15th place overall in the boys seeded race to put him 26th best on the all-time list for Redwood Empire runners.  Â
Lilja Chung was also impressive at the Stanford meet, finishing 9th place overall in her race in 19:32, the fastest time of the day for participating Redwood Empire girls.
Meanwhile the rest of the Windsor team was not to be outdone at the Westmoor Invitational Meet on Saturday, logging some great individual efforts.
Freshman Dustin Smith took the lead early and ran away from the pack to win the 2.4-mile freshman boys race in 13:18, with teammate Garrett Melvin also medaling with a fast clocking of 15:25.Â
