The Windsor High School track team continued to impress at a pair of recent meets, beginning with a dual track meet at Maria Carrillo on April 17 and finishing up on Saturday at the annual Viking Classic meet at Montgomery.

“I was really proud of the way we competed against Maria Carrillo, they’ve been the top team in the area for quite a few years and we were able to use this meet as a gauge to see where we are now and where we want to go in the coming years,” WHS coach Brandon Bronzan said. “On Saturday, it was a treat to run on Montgomery’s beautiful new track.”
Highlights from the April 17 dual meet with the Pumas included a 1-2-3 Jags’ finish in the varsity boy’s 3,200-meter event that featured Hunter Larson, Dustin Smith and Landon McAlister.
“This group works well together and they’re incredibly steady,” Bronzan noted.
Other great performances included sophomore Ethan Didero (first place triple jump, sixth on the WHS all-time list), sophomore Gil Brantley (first place shot put, 33 feet, 1.5 inches), sophomore Isabela Chavez (first place 100, 200 meters), senior Kaitlyn Macauley (second place shot put, 30 feet, discus, 99 feet 9 inches) and freshman Lilja Chung (second place 1,600 meters).
The Jaguars were equally impressive at the annual Viking Invitational meet held on Montgomery’s newly renovated track.
Sophomore sprinter Jaden Fernandez led the charge, setting school records in both the 100 meters (11.21) and 200 meters (23.07).
“That might be the best individual day in our program’s history,” Bronzan said.
Other top efforts were had by sprinter Max Sandwina (PR in 100 meters, 11.44, 200 meters, 23.33), Jake Sievers (100 meters, 11.63, 200 meters, 24.14), Isabela Chavez (second place 100 meters, 12.84, 200 meters, 26.67) and Jayda Pignataro (PR 800 meters, 2:27, fourth on all-time list).
As a team, the Windsor boys finished second overall out of 27 teams, while the varsity girls placed sixth out of 24 teams.
