Windsor’s Lucas Chung was among the top finishers for the Jaguars at the annual Rancho Cotate Invitational Cross County Meet on Sept. 8 in Rohnert Park.

High school cross country
The Windsor High School cross-country team enjoyed an impressive 2017 debut at the Rancho Cotate Invitational on Sept. 8, a meet that serves as the unofficial start to the fall season.
The 2.97-mile course boasted fast times and solid performances from a handful of seasoned veterans, along with some promising underclassmen getting their first taste of high school competition.
“It went well,” WHS coach Pete Stefanisko reported. “Lucas Chung finished 3rd overall and sophomore Hunter Larson was 22nd and both set PR’s (personal records). On the varsity girls side, Erin O’Mara raced to 17th place and senior Alejandra Perez finished 23rd.”
The Windsor brain trust was equally excited about their young charges, which provided a glimpse of great things to come.
“There were some strong performances on both the JV boys and girls, with freshman David Kvamme leading the boys and freshmen Nataleigh Johnson, Emily Moberly and Kaitlyn Erickson finishing 3rd, 5th and 10th in the JV girls race,” Stefanisko said. “It was a strong performance for their first race of the season and they should get faster over the next few weeks of racing and training,” he added.
