Windsor distance runners Allegra Robertshaw and Lucas Chung battled for the lead in varsity 800 and 1,600 meter races respectively in an NBL track meet with Maria Carrillo and Montgomery on April 12.

The Windsor High School track team opened the North Bay League campaign with a tri meet against visiting Maria Carrillo and Montgomery on April 12, a great litmus test against a couple of the league’s best teams.
The Running Jags acquitted themselves well against many of the top athletes in the area, with plenty of great performances to go around.
“We ran into many of the biggest, strongest and fastest in the NBL and quite a few of our kids did very well,” WHS coach Doug Hastings said. “That was a rough place to look for our first team win and we’ll have only slightly better luck this week with Santa Rosa and Rancho Cotate.”
Windsor will be back on the league meet circuit this Wednesday, April 19 when the team takes on the Cougars and Panthers at Ernie Nevers Field on the Santa Rosa High School campus. The first race is 4 p.m.
Among the many notable efforts in the April 12 meet were first-place marks by shot put and discus specialist Ruben Mehler, long jump standout Casey McLaughlin and 1,600-meter star Lucas Chung.
Senior jumper, hurdler Maddie Call led the varsity girls contingent, taking second place overall in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles and adding third-place finishes in the 100 meter high hurdles and long jump. Teammate Lauren McCabe also took third in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.
Other top-four efforts came from freshmen Amber Balogh (100 meters), Jayda Pignataro (800 meters) and Kendall Campos (100 meters), along with senior Allegra Robertshaw (800 meters).
