Double winner Maddie Call heads list of 16 NCS qualifiers
It was a day of outstanding effort and individual achievement at the North Bay League Track and Field Championships hosted by Casa Grande High School on May 11-13, a meet that decided both team and individual champions.
The action kicked off with the trials on May 11, followed by the finals on Friday, May 13. The goal for most participants was a top-six finish, good for advancement to the North Coast Section Redwood Empire qualifier to be held at Piner this Saturday, May 21 (10 a.m.).
In all, the Running Jags qualified nine individual athletes in 17 events to the NCS REQ, many with their sights set on a top-seven finish this Saturday and a possible trip to the prestigious Meet of Champions in Berkeley on May 28.
“We must continue to push to qualify past this next weekend,” WHS head coach Doug Hastings said of the NCS REQ, citing great efforts by Maddie Call, William McTaggart, Alyssa Stewart and Giselle Saleby at the NBL finals.
Top individual finishers for the Windsor girls at the NBL Championships were; Call (1st place 100 High Hurdles, 300 Intermediate Hurdles, 5th place Long Jump), Saleby (2nd place 100 Meters, 4th place 200 Meters), Stewart (2nd place Triple Jump, 3rd place Long Jump) and Kelsie Granneman (6th place 100 High Hurdles).
