Berkeley’s Edward’s Stadium was the venue for the prestigious North Coast Section Meet of Champions on May 25-26, the final qualifier for athletes with CIF State Track and Field aspirations.
The two-day meet included preliminary races on Friday and finals on Saturday, with the top three finishers in each event advancing to compete at the CIF State Track & Field Championships on June 1-2 in Clovis.
Representing Windsor at the MOC were juniors Lucas Chung (1,600 Meters), Vince Corday (800 Meters, Triple Jump), Scott McLaughlin (110 High Hurdles) and freshman Emily Johnson (Long Jump).
Chung wrapped up a great season with an 18th place finish in the 1,600, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:28.35 in Friday’s preliminary race. Corday was equally solid, logging an 18th place mark of 39’ 9” in the Triple jump, while finishing 22nd overall in the 800 Meters in 2:04.12. McLaughlin held down 20th place in the 110 High Hurdles while Johnson served notice of great things to come with a leap of 15’ 1” in finishing 16th overall in the Long Jump.
