Swan song – The Cloverdale High School cross country team honored graduating seniors Carlos Mercado, Miguel Gonzalez, Tucker Morgan, Cristina Cardenas and team captain Julie Edwards before their final home meet on Oct. 17.  

The Cloverdale cross country team held its final home meet of the 2018 campaign on Oct. 17 on the 3-mile Treasury Estate Vineyard course, recording a clean sweep over visiting Clear Lake.
The varsity boys, led by a winning effort from Paden Collard, recorded a 20-37 win over the Cardinals. Collard crossed the finish line in a fast 16:53, followed by teammates Miguel Gonzalez (20:38), Tucker Morgan (21:30), Joseph Faso (22:37), Carlos Mercado (24:10), Alex Visconti (30:12) and Sadrac Fernandez (36:10).
The girls were equally impressive, posting a winning team score of 27-29. Leading the way was third-place overall finisher Julie Edwards (23:40), Josephine Swartz (26:00), Cristina Cardenas (31:15), Elizabeth Ruiz (34:50), Sophia Witt (38:04) and Paula Toledo (38:36).
The Eagles visit St. Helena on Oct. 24 in their next league meet.
