Front runners – Leading the way for the Eagles in the Oct. 3 cross country meet at Fort Bragg were Julie Edwards and Paden Collard.

It was a fast 3.1-mile race on Oct. 3 at Fort Bragg, despite both Cloverdale varsity teams taking a loss against the host Timberwolves. It was a great day for individual achievement however, with all Cloverdale runners setting personal bests on the course.

The varsity girls came into the meet a bit shorthanded, with five runners toeing the starting line. Leading the way for the Eagles were senior captain Julie Edwards (6th overall, 22:25), Cristina Cardenas (26:14), Josephine Swartz (27:17), Elizabeth Ruiz (28:16) and Sofia Witt (31:15).

The varsity boys battled in a close race but were edged out by Fort Bragg, 26-29. The Eagles were led by meet winner Paden Collard (16:17), Christopher Lopez (18:40), Miguel Gonzalez (19:34), Tucker Morgan (19:50), Joseph Faso (21:11), Carlos Mercado (23:31) and Alex Visconti (25:57).
The Eagles return to their home course on Oct. 10 in their next league meet.
